ADVANCED SEMINAR
When you attend an Advanced Seminar, the trainer assumes that you are already familiar with the scope of the Spell to Write and Read program, have taught it awhile following your Basic Seminar, and that you plan to teach 3rd grade or up. In order to prepare yourself adequately for the three-day Advanced Seminar, follow the suggestions below.
Prior to the seminar:
- review Steps 1-12 in Spell to Write and Read
- read or review Steps 13, 14, 27, 29, 38, 40
- be ready to take a phonogram quiz and diagnostic tests on the first morning
- bring samples of your students’ work before SWR and after, if possible
- bring your Master Teacher Log from the Basic Seminar
During the seminar, the trainer will lead you through the process of establishing your Black Logbook as if you are a student. As you prepare, see if you can identify the advanced portions of SWR, and write down questions to bring to the seminar. The more you prepare, the more you will get out of the three days you invest.
